About Brenda...
Putting Marylanders First
I am a dedicated candidate committed to putting Marylanders first. With a deep understanding of the issues and challenges facing our State and Nation, I am passionate about creating positive change and improving the lives of all Marylanders. I bring a fresh perspective, innovative ideas, and a strong dedication to public service.
Born in North Carolina, I have been a proud Maryland resident since 1995. I was taught from the earliest age that the most important things in life are your family, your community, and country; that loyalty and integrity matter; and that you should always be willing to help people whenever and wherever you can.
A Candidate Committed to Marylanders, not Special Interests
As a Maryland educator, a wife, and mother, I am looking forward to the opportunity to champion values that are important to all Marylanders. After receiving a Bachelors of Science Degree in Physical Education from North Carolina Central University in 1994, I received a Masters in Education from the University of Maryland, and a Doctorate in Special Education Leadership from Capella University. I have taught in Maryland Public Schools for years, teaching special needs children in Washington County. As an educator, I will be Marylanders' greatest advocate for parents, students, and teachers. I was honored to be appointed to serve in the Maryland House of Delegates in 2020, representing Hagerstown as the first African-American Republican woman to ever serve in the Maryland General Assembly. I am very proud of the work I did representing Marylanders in our legislature. Maryland need real leaders who remember that they work for Marylanders. Like, John, I am committed to lessening the crushing financial tax burden on Maryland residents and businesses, to providing all Marylanders with economic opportunities so that they can raise their families affordably here, to providing support to our heroic First Responders throughout the State, and to using my vast experience in education to fix our failing public schools in order to provide a future to our children. Marylanders need real change - and we will provide a common sense approach to governing Maryland with integrity and accountability in everything we do.
